2019 Chevy Equinox VS Toyota RAV4

If you are interested in a compact SUV, it’s clear that you are in need of a few things: cargo space, a dynamic driving experience, comfortable legroom and efficiency. There are two top brands that have spent years updating and perfecting their crossovers and have ultimately produced the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox and the 2019 Toyota RAV4.

One can meet your basic needs and the other will surpass them. Spoiler alert: You’re going to want the new 2019 Chevrolet Equinox and it’s on sale at Malcolm Cunningham Chevrolet Atlanta! Let’s explore how it beats the 2019 Toyota RAV4 in several ways.

Engine Options and MPG

Even though the 2019 Toyota RAV4 has been redesigned for 2019, it is still playing catch-up with the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The Equinox has three engine options to choose from versus RAV4’s two — and all 2019 Equinox trim levels are priced lower than the Toyota RAV4.

The RAV4 is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that get 203 horsepower[1], or you can go for the more expensive Hybrid. It comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 176 horsepower.

With the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, you can choose between three engine options to find the right one for your driving needs around Alpharetta and Richmond County. The compact SUV comes standard with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder base engine that pushes out 170 horsepower. Or, you can get the available 2.0-liter turbo-four, which gets 252 horsepower. This engine makes for a more dynamic driving experience and is popular amongst enthusiasts. It is matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, you can equip your Equinox with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine that puts out 137 horsepower and it is the most fuel-efficient engine of all three.

The base engine gets an EPA estimated 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The turbocharged engine gets 22 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway and the turbodiesel leads with 28/39 mpg city/highway.

Standard Features

The best thing about the Chevrolet’s features are the ones you don’t have to pay extra for. And the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox provides plenty of standard features that would either cost you extra with the 2019 Toyota RAV4, or are not available at all.

  • Six-speaker audio system
  • USB Port
  • Bluetooth
  • Push-button Start (not standard on the 2019 Toyota RAV4)
  • Chevrolet’s Teen Driver System (no Toyota version available)
  • Android Auto (not available on the 2019 Toyota RAV4)
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • 7-inch touch screen

Starting MSRP

What ultimately makes the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox better than the 2019 Toyota RAV4 is that even after the multiple engine options and more standard features — is that it offers them all at a lower starting MSRP! The Equinox is over $1,500 less, but offers so much more!
